I liked this little article. I too thought that I'd do a little essay about moving with kids, grandparents, pets and the like on my website, but as you said there is already a ton of stuff out there that says it a lot better than I ever could. But I like you presented it here.

Good tips, Jon. Our pets definitely pick up on the stress; my standard poodle had stomach problems the whole ramp up to the move across town. Too much drama! Sequestering in a quiet room is a great idea. Doggy Day Care for the day is another. Cats. *eye roll* Moving cross country, my two hid in the crawl space in the basement so it was hours after the movers left before we could corral them. In Austin, I decided. They feel secure in small spaces, so hunkering in a carrier in a quiet room kept all of us sane. Then I make sure my fur babies travel with me, last out, first in. Last note, keep cats inside for way longer than you think. They do not like relocating and will take off for "home" like Bo, but with more success. Lastly please remember DO NOT LEAVE PETS IN CLOSED CARS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE GETS ABOVE 70*.
